The Presidium manages the university. It consists of the President, the Vice Presidents and the Head of Administration.
The duties of the Presidium are set out in the Thuringian Higher Education Act. Accordingly, it is responsible, among other things, for concluding the framework agreement with the state government, the target and performance agreements with the responsible ministry, the preparation and updating of structural and development plans, the preparation and adjustment of the business plan, taking into account and appreciating the opinion of the Senate, as well as the establishment and dissolution of academic institutions and operating units.
In addition, the Presidium is responsible for all matters that are not assigned to another body in accordance with the Thuringian Higher Education Act or the Basic Regulations. To this end, it adopts rules of procedure in which the tasks and responsibilities of the members are defined.
