Algorithmen Literacy und Sourcing-Kompetenz in außerschulischen Bildungssettings (AlLiS)

In view of the increasing influence of data-based intelligent technologies, known as artificial intelligence (AI), on our daily lives, developing digital skills is a key social task that cannot be achieved in formal educational settings alone. With a focus on algorithms literacy and sourcing skills (the ability to competently evaluate sources), the project investigates how key aspects of digital skills can be fostered in young people in out-of-school educational settings.

In two subprojects, interventions are being developed with young people and stakeholders from media education work in order to increase the digital participation of young people. The communication science subproject Algorithm Literacy (AL) focuses on the promotion of algorithm literacy with a view to empowering digital participation. The educational science subproject Sourcing Literacy (SK) looks at the interplay between algorithm literacy and sourcing literacy in the use of online information on socially relevant, science-based topics and develops an intervention tailored to this. The intervention materials developed in the project are relevant to the practice of media education work with young people. The co-operation with practice partners in the project enables a direct transfer of these materials.

Further information on the project can be found in the news item "Here comes AlLiS! New research project to promote digital skills among young people" from 17 October 2024.
