With the project "Research Campus Digital Teacher Education", the University of Erfurt is helping to shape the digital change in education, because the key to the success of digitisation in education lies, among other things, in the comprehensive training of teachers.

The following objectives are central:

  • Bundling and strengthening existing research work on digital education in the subject and on subject-specific, subject-didactic and interdisciplinary education with digital media in schools and universities;
  • Conceptual design, evaluation and consolidation of modules of evidence-based digital teacher education;
  • Development and communication of criteria for identifying best practice examples of digital education in educational institutions in Thuringia;
  • Establishment of a network of Thuringian educational institutions for the design and research of teacher education in the course of digitisation in the didactics and educational sciences.

In addition, the project "Research Campus for Digital Teacher Education" sees itself as a catalyst that strengthens the innovative power of the University of Erfurt in digital teacher education and supports its researchers in the fields of educational science, subject didactics and didactics to successfully participate in calls for third-party funding to research the challenges of digitisation in the field of education.

Within the framework of the project, educational scientists, subject specialists and subject didactics experts will be enabled to develop complex scenarios for effective digitisation in school and university education together with external partners at universities, schools and teacher training institutions. This is based on basic and application-oriented research, the results of which are to be implemented in all teacher training phases.
