In the online event, the various types of doctorates and pathways at the University of Erfurt as well as funding opportunities such as the Academic Skills Training Programme will be presented. Another key topic for all those interested in doing a doctorate is funding. For this reason, the scholarship formats for doctoral candidates at the University of Erfurt will be briefly presented and information on how to apply for the university's internal scholarships will be given before Dr Maia George gives an overview of external funding options in an informative presentation: A doctoral scholarship is an attractive opportunity for prospective academics to finance their research. Prestige, networking, funding opportunities for stays abroad, exclusive events, more flexibility and freedom in organising your own research are the advantages of a scholarship, depending on the foundation. However, the diversity of the German scholarship landscape and its requirements can make the application process confusing and difficult. In her presentation, Dr Maia George will therefore give an overview of the foundation landscape (Begabtenförderungswerke and other scholarship providers), provide orientation on the application requirements and encourage people to make an application.
The speaker is a former doctoral scholarship holder and an active member of the selection committee of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. A short Q&A session with the workshop leader is planned as part of the event.
All Master's students and graduates who are considering a doctorate are cordially invited to attend the information event, as are academic employees who are considering a doctorate or are looking for alternative funding options.
