Die Rolle der morphologischen Bewusstheit für den frühen Schriftspracherwerb – Eine experimentelle Trainingsstudie

Correlative studies show that morphological awareness (awareness of the morphological structure of words and the ability to reflect on and manipulate these structures) is related to the acquisition of written language. However, in order to test whether morphological awareness has a causal effect on the acquisition of written language, additional experimental training studies with pre-school children are required. In this project, a programme for training morphological awareness in preschool children will first be developed (two versions: with vs. without the inclusion of writing). An experimental training study will then be conducted with two experimental groups (training of morphological awareness with vs. without writing) and an unsupported comparison group in which children in the last year of kindergarten will participate. The study makes it possible to test whether morphological awareness has a causal and specific effect on the acquisition of written language. In addition, it is the first study to a) examine the differential effectiveness of preschool training in morphological awareness with vs. without the inclusion of writing and b) examine the effectiveness of training in morphological awareness at preschool age in German language.
