In public and media debates, the link between religion and gender plays a prominent and problematic role. Religious experiences and practices cannot be adequately understood without attention to the diversity of the subjects involved and acting. Yet, gender-sensitive religious studies is still not a given. Current and historical case studies on the relationship between religion and diversity take a look at various religions such as Islam as well as Western and Orthodox Christianity, and also cover a variety of media such as narratives, films, series, and reality TV.
