Cecilia Rikap's (City, University of London) research explores how leading corporations have managed to build a monopoly on knowledge and information. Her lecture "The co-evolution of corporate and political power under intellectual monopoly capitalism" and the subsequent discussion will examine the relationship between tech giants Amazon and Alibaba and their respective states, i.e. the US and China, and what this means for international politics.
The lecture is organised by the graduate centre "Effective and Innovative Policymaking in Contested Contexts" (EIPCC) of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt. The lecture will take place in Lehrgebäude 1, lecture hall 3. Online participation is possible via Webex.
