University of Erfurt welcomes 1057 new students for the winter semester

The University of Erfurt has started the winter semester 2021/22 with a total of 6298 students. After three Corona-related online semesters, this is the first time that the university is largely back in attendance.

The number of first-year students in the 1st university semester is 1057, including 165 students from abroad who have taken up their studies at the University of Erfurt. The Bachelor's degree programmes in Educational Science, Special Education and Inclusive Pedagogy, Primary Education and International Relations as well as the Master's programme in Public Policy met with particularly great interest among the new students.

"We are pleased that we can once again welcome so many new students to campus despite the difficult study situation due to the pandemic," says Professor Gerd Mannhaupt, Vice President for Student Affairs. "In the past three semesters, we have made great efforts to expand the study programme with digital teaching and examination options in order to enable every student to graduate in the standard period of study. We will all continue to benefit from this, but above all we hope that attendance will now become the norm again."
