Project Forum 2023: Students present their work from the project study phase

Students in the Bachelor of Communication Studies at the University of Erfurt will present the results of their work from the 2022/23 project study phase at a project forum in Lecture Hall 1 (KIZ) on Saturday, 8 July. The event starts at 1.30 pm with a small champagne reception. The event will continue at 2 p.m. with a welcome address by Michael Tallai (FUNKE Medien Thüringen) before the individual projects are presented to the public. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.

As part of the event, the sponsorship award for the best work, endowed with 500 euros, will once again be presented. The following projects are in the running this year:

  • Project Express Yourself: To what extent do social media users' opinions change through writing and posting comments?
  • Antagonists research group: How has the cinematic representation of antagonists developed?
  • SexLab: The representation of sexual education and prevention content on selected Instagram channels and its perception by users
  • Cancel Culture in Academia: To what extent does the phenomenon of cancel culture restrict academic freedom at universities in Germany?
  • Media (Mit)Gefühl: An empirical study of TV coverage and its contribution to the solidarity attitude of the audience
  • WTF - What the fact?: A project for a more conscious handling of disinformation and deepfakes on the net

Detailed project descriptions can be found in the brochure of the Project Forum 2023 (in German only).

Background

All the work was done within the framework of the "project study phase", a unique concept in German teaching: Over a period of one year, students work in small groups to apply the knowledge they have acquired during their studies to solve real or realistic problems within communication science. Project partners are media and business companies as well as public institutions and organisations.
