The focus of today's Kick-off presentation was the presentation of the science summer "Campusforum Zukunftszentrum Eisenach 2022" opened by the Vice-President and Permanent Representative of the President of the DHGE, Professor Thomas Müller. It is intended to make the scientific expertise that already exists visible and the experience of German unification tangible – for example, with an international conference of the Point Alpha Research Institute with Sofia University and Central University in Eisenach in September also at the DHGE. The future workshop "Education in a World Shaped by Uncertainty and Transformation" will take place at the Cooperative State University (DHGE) on 18 August. Here, the University of Erfurt is developing concepts together with regional education partners to provide young people with strategies on how to deal with uncertainty and changes in their immediate living environment.
"We want to do research that is relevant. The people in Eisenach should get something out of our campus summer," emphasises Professor Christiane Kuller, historian at the University of Erfurt. Professor Jürgen Müller, Vice President for further education and research of the DHGE, adds: "The Gera-Eisenach Cooperative State University has close ties to business and practical industry. Our more than 1,500 practical partners have a great interest in inspiring young people to join their own companies." Network partners from the social and cultural spheres, such as the Wartburg Foundation or the "automobile welt eisenach" museum and the Point Alpha memorial, are involved in the science summer.
For example, the Wartburg Foundation, in cooperation with the city of Eisenach, will open a travelling exhibition on the history of democracy in the town hall on 31 August. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the "Gesellschaft zur Erforschung der Demokratiegeschichte" (Society for the Study of the History of Democracy). Beginning with the French Revolution and the Wartburg Festival in 1817 to major achievements in the mid-19th century, the exhibition shows the long and often rocky road to today's basic democratic order. All events of the science summer "Campusforum Zukunftszentrum Eisenach 2022" will soon be available online at zukunftgehoertinszentrum.de/wissenschaftspartner .
