Brandt School and INPUMA Launch Academic Partnership in Inaugural Event

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy and the International Institute of Public Policy and Management at the University of Malaya formally launched their academic partnership in an online inaugural event. The partnership aims to establish and strengthen academic ties between the two institutions, paving the way for student and faculty exchanges, as well as joint research collaborations.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Achim Kemmerling, Vice Director of the Brandt School, emphasized the value of academic collaborations and how they can lead to new research networks. Prof. Dr. Khadija Khalid, Director of INPUMA, similarly spoke about the importance of international collaborations and expressed her commitment to strengthening the partnership through research and faculty exchange.

The event was attended by Mrs. Manuela Linde, Head of the University of Erfurt's International Office, and the Brandt School's leadership team, including Prof. Dr. Andreas Goldthau, Prof. Dr. Heike Grimm, and Managing Director Lena Kiesewetter, as well as Dr. Alejandra Ortiz-Ayala, Research Associate for Conflict Studies and Management.

Dr. Hasnain Bokhari, who is currently leading the internationalization efforts at the Brandt School, moderated the event. In his remarks, Dr. Bokhari highlighted some of the ongoing collaborative efforts, such as the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) seminar he led with the College of Mexico and a joint hybrid course by Prof. Kemmerling with the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. Dr. Bokhari also emphasized the importance of finding common synergies between the two institutions and planning joint online courses that could benefit students at both institutions.    

The partnership between the Brandt School and INPUMA is a significant step forward in strengthening academic ties between the two institutions and creating opportunities for collaboration and exchange.
