"4th W.K. Clifford Prize" for Dmitrii Legatiuk

Dr Dmitrii Legatiuk, an employee at the professorship for Mathematics at the Faculty of Education of the University of Erfurt, has been awarded the prestigious "4th W.K. Clifford Prize" for his excellent innovative research in the field of Mathematics. The award ceremony took place this week at the University College of London.

The Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Clifford Algebras and Their Applications in Mathematical Physics (ICCA) nominated Dmitrii Legatiuk for the award in 2020. It is endowed with 1000 Euro and is awarded to outstanding early-stage researchers.

As part of the award ceremony, the mathematician from Erfurt was also invited to give the traditional W.K. Clifford Prize Lecture. Under the title "Mathematical Modeling in Engineering: From Abstraction to Practice", he spoke about theoretical and practical aspects of mathematical modeling in technical applications.

Background

William Kingdon Clifford was Professor of Applied Mathematics at University College London from 1871 until his untimely death in 1879, holding the Goldsmid Chair.

The W. K. Clifford Prize was endowed by the International Conference on Clifford Algebras and Their Applications in Mathematical Physics (ICCA).
