The Martin Luther Institute of the University of Erfurt invites you to a reading in cooperation with the Literarische Gesellschaft Thüringen and the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung

Adjunct professor Michael Haspel will be reading from his new book "Wer nicht liebt, steht vor dem Nichts!" ("If you don't love, you're left with nothing!"), which will be published on 28 August and looks at Martin Luther King's spirituality as the basis of his fight against racism and injustice. Admission is free.

Cover "If you don't love, you're left with nothing!"

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of King's visit to Berlin in 1964, Michael Haspel's new book explores King's religious and spiritual stance. The 14 chapters correspond to the 14 calendar years in which King was publicly active and unfold King's spiritual and theological orientations primarily on the basis of his major speeches, sermons and texts in connection with important stages of the civil rights movement. The book is therefore neither a classic biography of King nor a history of the civil rights movement, but can certainly be read as such.

Moderated by Annegret Grimm, central sections of the book will be discussed on this evening. The event will feature music by Diana Röser (vocals) and André Köhn (keyboard). All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
