The largest part of Christianity today lives in the Global South. However, the history of Christianity in Asia, Africa and Latin America and thus of Christians in these parts of the world is still not sufficiently recognised. However, knowledge of this history is essential for theology and beyond in times of globalisation.
Klaus Koschorke is Professor Emeritus of Church History at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at LMU Munich and has been a guest lecturer at numerous universities in Germany and abroad. He is best known for his research on non-European and global church history, which he developed under the concept of a polycentric history of Christianity. This concept takes into account the confessional and geographical-cultural diversity of world Christianity as well as regional developments and transcontinental interactions. Professor em. Dr Klaus Koschorke, who recently published a textbook and study book on the subject, will provide insights into the relevant research using individual examples, including from the liturgy.
