Kornelia Kończal: Around the end of the Second World War two processes dramatically changed the socio-economic landscape of East Central Europe: the expulsion of up to twelve million Germans and the establishment of a new social order inspired by the Soviet model. The Sonderforschungsbereich aims to (re)gain a comprehensive socio-theoretical perspective on property and to investigate an assumed structural change of property in the present. The aim is to a) re-explore historical and conceptual foundations of the Western property system, b) empirically investigate current conflicts over private property, and c) analyse alternatives to (private) property.
