University of Erfurt once again announces Christoph Martin Wieland Doctoral Award

The prize is intended to recognise excellent dissertations by young academics that have been supervised and submitted at the University of Erfurt. The prize represents an important addition to the promotion of young academics at the University of Erfurt and is also intended to make the University's research achievements visible to a broad public. The prize money amounts to EUR 3,000 and EUR 500 for each of the other nominated works. The prize money is to be used for the student's own research.

Dissertations that have been awarded the highest distinction (summa cum laude or comparable) can be nominated for the prize. The dissertations should be characterised by

• scientific originality in the topic,
• quality in execution and presentation,
• application of an innovative methodological approach,
• knowledge gained for the further development of the subject area and
• significance for current research

characterise. They must have been completed between 01.01.2023 and 31.12.2024. The date of the resolution of the doctoral committee applies.

Each supervisor and each expert reviewer of a dissertation can submit a nomination proposal to the Deanery of the respective faculty or the Directorate of the Max-Weber-Kolleg. Following a resolution by the faculty or college council, they can each nominate a dissertation for the prize. The Presidium decides on the awarding of the prize on the basis of a vote by the award committee. The award ceremony is planned for summer semester 2025 and will take place at an academic ceremony organised by the Christoph Martin Wieland Graduate Forum.
