The series starts on 15 April with a lecture by Professor Thomas Schäfer on the role of AI in predicting particularly serious crimes in the area of sexual exploitation of children. On 29 April, Professor Oksana Arnold will give an overview of current research trends in AI and highlight risks and challenges in dealing with artificial intelligence. Professor Achim Kemmerling will answer the question of whether AI will one day make us superfluous in the world of work in his lecture on 6 May. And Professor Andreas Zimmer will be giving an interactive lecture on artificial intelligence and tourism on 20 May – with live voting, small discussion rounds and practical examples. On 3 June, Professor Sven Jöckel will give a lecture on AI in education. Professor Gisa Stich's lecture on 17 June will focus on AI in social work. She will shed light on the potential and risks of this technological development and explore the question of how social work can fulfil its professional and ethical responsibility to critically accompany and help shape the digital transformation. The lecture series ends on 1 July with a lecture by Professor Anna Neovesky on the question of how AI can help us to better research history.
New this semester: For the first time, the lecture series is also offering a special event for children aged 11 and over: In an additional lecture on 29 April at 4 p.m., they can explore basic concepts of AI using playful applications and get a feel for how AI can inspire our lives, but also where we should not allow ourselves to be "seduced" by it.
All interested parties are cordially invited to the lecture series. Admission to the lectures is free. However, please note that the number of seats is limited to 180.
