Markus Vinzent, director of the Meister Eckhart Research Centre at the Max Weber Centre for Cultural and Social Sciences at the University of Erfurt, describes in his novel “Nicht alle Tage” (Not All Days) with subtle observation how life in relationships can be shaped by a difficult diagnosis such as ovarian cancer. Challenged in the here and now, between hope and struggle, the story leads to a conversation with Eckhart. The narrative reflects the experiences of those affected, while at the same time opening up a space for personal exploration. „Written from the heart having experienced turbulent but precious times caring for a loved one with cancer, the novel brings out the importance of the relationship between patient and doctor“ (Professor J. A. Ledermann, Clinical Director, UCL Cancer Institute). „It is a magnificent work about the many facets of relationships with ourselves and the people we care about“ (Professor Jalid Sehouli, Director of the Clinic for Gynaecology and Oncological Surgery, Charité, Berlin). The story is leading narratively to core ideas of Eckhart, letting go, action and contemplation, time and timelessness. This book is for anyone who values literature as a means of philosophical reflection and is looking for a contemporary approach to the great mystic of the Middle Ages.
The first part of the novel will be published on 15 February 2025. Volume II is currently in preparation and is expected to be published in spring 2025.
