Living on Campus

The student residence halls are administrated by the University's Studierendenwerk Thüringen (Student Services Organisation).
The application for a spot in one of the residences is online. 
We advise you to apply as early as possible. You will receive a confirmation email from the Studierendenwerk once your application has been received. Around six weeks before you move in you will be asked if you are still interested in renting the room. Please do not forget to answer that email!
  
Rent is calculated according to the size and quality of the room. The rent price includes utility costs (heating, water, electricity). Please note that the minimum lease for a room in the student halls of residence is 6 months, i.e. you will have to pay six months' rent even if you are only staying five months. A deposit of € 300 must be paid for all placements in residence halls. You can bring your own bed linens and sheets ("Bettwäsche") from home, or you can buy the entire package for € 35 from the Studierendenwerk. A pillow and blanket can be provided for € 25. For internet access you will be charged a monthly fee of € 10. 

 

Application period

If you plan to come in winter semester (especially degree-seeking students), application for housing is possible as of April 1 of a year. If you plan to come in summer semester, application is possible as of October 1 of a year. Please apply as early as possible!

Living in the city

In Erfurt you have the following accommodation possibilities:

  • Shared appartment (WG)
  • shared appartment (WG) as sublet
    students from Erfurt may sublet their room as long as they study abroad
  • single appartment
  • AirBnBs (provisionally after arrival, if necessary)
  • hostels/hotels (provisionally after arrival, if necessary)

Exchange service for household items

You come from abroad to study in Erfurt and you could not bring any household items? Get them from the Swap Shop!
The Swap Shop is a sustainable exchange service shop for household items. The offer is aimed for students who come from abroad to study in Erfurt and have a need for household items such as pots, dishes, towels, etc.. At the beginning of their stay, international students can make an appointment by e-mail and pick up various pieces from there.
On the other hand, Erfurt students and employees of the university can support the project by handing in household items, cutlery, glasses, towels, etc. that they no longer need themselves to the Puzzlekiste. You find the Swap Shop on campus in the building LG 2 / room 3b (-112) in the basement.
