Farewell to the Class of 2022-2024

The event was officially opened with an inspiring speech by Director Prof. Dr. Andreas Goldthau, setting a tone of anticipation for the future. One of the highlights was the presentation of the Commitment Awards by Markus Pins, recognizing the extraordinary dedication of our first-year students. We also congratulated the Doctoral Graduates of the Academic Year 2023/24: Jalale Birru, Juliane Corredor-Jimenez, and Silvia Weko, for their remarkable contributions to academic research.

Three deserving students were honored with the prestigious Brandt School Graduation Prizes, recognizing their exceptional achievements and contributions to the program:

• The Academic Merit Award was bestowed upon Sharmaine Salazar for her outstanding academic achievements during her Master's studies.
• The Dietmar Herz Award was given to Sourav Dhungana, an MPP student who best demonstrates the commitment, enthusiasm, and spirit of service to government exemplified by our founding director, Prof. Dr. Dietmar Herz.
• The Excellence in Service and Leadership Award went to María Fernanda Caparó for her tireless engagement for fellow students and her sense of service to society, selected based on nominations and votes by her peers.

This year’s Commencement speech was given by graduating students María Fernanda Caparó and Tracy Shimoli, who reflected on their journey and aspirations for the future.

As they step into this next phase, we are confident that all our Public Policy graduates will continue to make meaningful contributions to the field of public policy and governance, creating positive change in society.
