One of the aims of the JitsuVAX project is to prepare healthcare professionals for discussions with patients with vaccination hesitancy. One tool for this is the project's learning platform. It explains the most important psychological reasons why people delay or refuse vaccinations. The platform also contains an overview of 60 different arguments against vaccination, which are categorised under psychological reasons. These arguments range from concerns about the side effects of vaccination to belief in conspiracy theories. For each argument, there is a suitable emphatic response on the website, which can open up a new perspective on vaccinations. Not only healthcare professionals can benefit from the platform. The platform can also be helpful in personal conversations with colleagues, friends or family members in order to have a mutually satisfactory discussion with people who are reluctant to vaccinate.
Many people are concerned when it comes to vaccinations. It is important to take these concerns seriously and address them in a personal conversation. Instead of overwhelming vaccine hesitant individuals with information about the efficacy and safety of vaccinations, it can be helpful to tailor responses to their concerns. An empathetic approach to people with vaccination hesitancy also helps to build trust and have an informative conversation." (Frederike Taubert, research assistant in the project)
The online learning platform is available in five languages (English, Spanish, French, German and Romanian).
