The course offerings are extremely diverse - from A for English Studies to W for Economics. If you want to become a teacher of primary schools, secondary schools or special needs schools, you've come to the right place. Brand new: The University of Erfurt is planning to launch a dual study programme for secondary school teaching in the 2024/25 winter semester. But Erfurt's Communication Studies is also known far beyond the borders of the Free State - be it through the Master's in Health Communication, Global Communication or Children's and Youth Media Studies. Would you like to study in the rooms where Martin Luther already studied the liberal arts? The Faculty of Catholic Theology, with its seat in the cathedral, is the only one of its kind in the eastern German states. Those who study here breathe history and at the same time get to the bottom of modern questions from theology and society. And political science in Erfurt is also something special: the linking of various disciplines (Economics, Law and Social Sciences with Sociology and Political Science as well as Economics) is the focus here. The interdisciplinarity of the degree programme, i.e. the "interlocking" of the disciplines, provides an excellent basis for later specialisation.
For those who want to look beyond the horizon of their subject, the Studium Fundamentale offers new perspectives: This component of the Bachelor's programme, enables students to acquire a wide range of methodological skills and key competences in interdisciplinary courses and to gain career-oriented practical experience. A mentoring system also guarantees personal supervision of our students by a professor from the first semester onwards. Another exciting aspect of the Bachelor's programme in Erfurt is the so-called "two-subject Bachelor's". This means that the programme consists of two subjects, namely a major and a minor. This means that graduates are well prepared for their future careers.
For all those who are still looking for orientation in the "study jungle", the university has developed the STUDIMAT online tool for choosing a Bachelor's programme. It not only helps you find suitable combinations for your major and minor subject – STUDIMAT also provides all the important information about the chosen degree programme as well as reports on the experiences of current students and alumni.
