On 29 June from 3-5 p.m., Dr. Thuc Linh Nguyen Vu will give an online lecture on her postdoctoral project entitled: "Strange but Familiar: The Global Microhistory of Contacts between Poland and Vietnam (1955-1989)".
In her lecture, Thuc Linh will examine the connected histories of Poland and Vietnam during and, subsequently, after decolonization. By zooming in on socialist education and the presence of Vietnamese students, the talk will bring into light the students' perspective, experiences, and challenges that they faced. In doing so, the talk will also try to capture ways in which the legacy of the connections between Poland and Vietnam, continues to shape contemporary Vietnamese communities in Poland.
The lecture will be held in English. Afterwards, there will be a discussion, which will be moderated by the Koordinationsstelle "Koloniales Erbe Thüringen“.
You are cordially invited to participate in our online event. Access is available at: https://www.conf.dfn.de/stream/nr5oyh6ehequv
