New publication: Antigonos von Karystos – Sammlung sonderbarer Geschichten.

A new book by Kai Brodersen has been published by KD publishing house. It is entitled "Antigonos von Karystos – Sammlung sonderbarer Geschichten".

There are many strange things in the world: strange animals and plants, springs and wells, rivers and seas. Even in ancient literature - from the epics of Homer to the "animal lore" of the philosopher Aristotle to the learned "paradoxes" of the great Kallimachos – there were always stories of the strange. Many of these texts are lost. What has survived, however, is a collection of strange stories written under the name of the learned Antigonos of Karystos (3rd century BC). Kai Brodersen, Professor of Ancient Culture at the University of Erfurt, has now translated them into German for the first time and presented them in a bilingual edition. This provides a new insight into the literally wonderful world of antiquity.
