New edited volume: "Digitalization and the Welfare State"

Oxford University Press is publishing a new edited volume entitled "Digitalisation and the Welfare State" in March. The editors are Marius R. Busemeyer, Achim Kemmerling (University of Erfurt), Kees van Kersbergen and Paul Marx.

The authors are certain: digitalisation will have a lasting impact on work, welfare and income distribution. This volume examines exactly what that looks like and what it means for the welfare state. It brings together internationally renowned welfare state researchers and explains the potential and real policy responses to the challenges posed by digitalisation. The book outlines the contours of future developments and considers whether the current wave of technological change could foster the emergence of a new paradigm of welfare state policymaking. The authors' future-oriented perspective provides a unique empirical basis for social science and public debates on the long-term impact of the digital revolution on the welfare state.
