Embedded in the theme year Nine Centuries of Jewish Life in Thuringia, the public study day is dedicated to Christian-Jewish dialogue and questions of Jewish life in Germany today. The increase in anti-Semitic violence and incitement in recent years is well known and obvious. The study day will discuss what this situation means for Jewish life in Germany and what challenges and perspectives arise for non-Jewish and Jewish citizens.
In the morning, lectures by Christian and Jewish theologians will examine the state of Christian-Jewish dialogue from different perspectives. Afterwards, workshops will focus on the lived Jewish-Christian practice. The day will conclude with a panel discussion on the question: "Jewish life in Germany: aspired to, achieved or lost 'normality'?
