Heike Hahn receives"Fellowship for Innovations in Digital University Teaching"

The programme is intended to give an impulse to digital university teaching. The state of Thuringia is providing funding totalling more than 430,000 euros. A jury consisting of teachers of subject sciences and university didactics as well as students decided on the allocation of the funding. The fellows are thus given the opportunity to implement their digital teaching concepts.

The Corona pandemic has shown how important excellent digital teaching is. But not only online teaching in pandemic times, but also the growing possibilities of digital formats make the topic of innovation in university teaching more topical than ever. For the fourth time, teachers are now receiving support for outstanding ideas in digital university teaching. The concepts range from a virtual PC pool to a digital electrical engineering laboratory to digitally supported writing exercises to promote subject-specific learning in book sciences. "Digital teaching formats are more in demand than ever and offer many possibilities as a supplement to classroom teaching or integration into existing formats," emphasises Science Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee. What is important, however, is real added value through well thought-out concepts. The fellowships are intended to provide an incentive to implement digital teaching concepts in a meaningful way. "We are in the midst of a social upheaval that can also be felt in university teaching," emphasises Andreas Schlüter, Secretary General of the Stifterverband. "The funded projects reflect this upheaval and make the digital transformation fruitful for university teaching.

The fellows are thus given the opportunity to implement their digital teaching concepts, whether it involves financing staff positions or technical equipment. In addition, the programme offers the fellows space to exchange ideas and network.
