Welcome on Board, Sebastian Rüth!

The University of Erfurt welcomes yet another new face to its Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences on June 1, 2021: Sebastian Rüth is the new Junior Professor of International and Monetary Macroeconomics.

He most recently held professorships in Frankfurt and Mannheim and now comes to the Thuringian state capital from the University of Heidelberg. What particularly convinced him about Erfurt was the interdisciplinary character of the Faculty of of Economics, Law and Social Sciences and its courses, he says. "But the fact that the University of Erfurt offers a so-called 'tenure track' for my junior professorship was also very attractive to me. In addition, I see very concrete opportunities for cooperation with the professors of economics on site. For example, Professor Maltritz is researching very similar topics to mine. As an empirically working macroeconomist, I am very interested in economic policy, which is best viewed in an interdisciplinary way. That's why I'm especially looking forward to the exchange with the social scientists at the faculty and my colleagues at the Brandt School."
