Werner Heisenberg Medal for Prof. Dr. Hartmut Rosa

International research cooperation needs not only good scientists and scholars, but also funding institutions that support the international exchange of researchers, such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. However, these funding institutions are also dependent on the support of researchers who assess research proposals, evaluate funding programmes, develop ideas for funding formats, etc. One such researcher is Prof. Dr. Hartmut Rosa, the director of the Max-Weber-Kolleg at the University of Erfurt.

He has now been awarded the Werner Heisenberg Medal by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in recognition of his services to international academic cooperation and his many years of work on the Anneliese-Maier Selection Committee. Named after the philosopher and science historian Anneliese Maier and endowed with 250,000 EUR, the research award is open to researchers from the humanities and social sciences from abroad who have already achieved high international visibility.

Professor Hartmut Rosa: "I am very pleased about this award, because it recognizes that the success of science requires not only research, but also 'invisible' but very time-consuming work in selection committees, university boards and other committees at various levels.
