We are happy to present you a lecture by Snizhana Zhygun from the Institute of Philology of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, "National Matter and Soviet Children‘s Publishing Companies in Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s".
The lecture presents the results of the analysis of more than 800 publications of the children's publishing houses "Dytvydav" and "Molodyi Bilshovyk", kept in the Rare Book Collection of the National Library of Ukraine for Children. The analysis demonstrates the important role of ideology in children's literature of the 1920s and 1930s. According to Zhygun, books published in "Dytvydav" or "Molodyi Bilshovyk" marginalized national identity in Ukraine for the sake of Russia in Soviet times.
