Travelling exhibition at the University of Erfurt: "Flucht, Migration & Behinderung"

The subject area "Special and Social Education" at the University of Erfurt is showing the travelling exhibition ""Flucht, Migration & Behinderung" (Escape, Migration & Disability) in the foyer of the Centre for Communication and Information (KIZ) on campus from 1 to 26 November 2023. The show was conceived by the MINA association (Berlin). The opening will take place on Thursday, 2 November, at 6 pm. All interested parties are cordially invited.

More and more people are migrating. Their reasons vary, but it is known that they are increasingly forced to leave their homes, for example by war. Among them are also people with disabilities and their relatives. How do they experience everyday life in Germany?

The exhibition "Escape, Migration, Disability – Insights and Experiences of Life in Germany" explores this question, informs about the interface of flight, migration and disability and offers self-advocates and actors a place where they can tell their stories and report on their experiences. In addition to an introduction to the interface between escape, migration and disability, the exhibition shows excerpts from the diverse realities of life of people with experience of ecape and/or migration and disability in the areas of counselling, self-help and leisure as well as work and language.

The exhibition is part of the project Diversity Inclusive by "MINA – Leben in Vielfalt e. V.". It is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration and for Anti-Racism.

The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday from 6 am to 10.30 pm.

The MINA association ...

... was founded in 2010 to advise migrants with disabilities and their families and to support them in asserting their rights. Since the increased influx of people with refugee experience, counselling in this area has become another focus of MINA. The project "Diversity Inclusive" is dedicated to the interface between flight, migration and disability. The aim is to multiply knowledge about the topics of the interface.
