Summer School "Coins and Other Things: Travelling Objects in Early Globalisation"

The Gotha Research Centre of the University of Erfurt, the Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt and the Friedenstein Castle Foundation of Gotha invite you to a summer school from August 28 to September 1, which will focus on object biographies of mobile things - such as coins or gems - and thus combine Arts and Global History. Applications are still possible until July 2.

Under the direction of Professor Martin Mulsow, the director of the research center, the participants will ask about supply chains and contexts of use as well as about the sorting of things into cabinets of curiosities and catalogs. In addition to lectures by renowned experts (including Dr Lisa Hellman, Lund; Dr Dirk Jacob Jansen, Maastricht; Professor Kim Siebenhüner, Jena), the summer school will also include research in collections and archives of Gotha.

The summer school is sponsored by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation and is aimed at PhD students, post-docs and curators.
