Ready for an exciting event on the Ethiopian peace process?
On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 6 p.m., the Schlosskirche Friedenstein in Gotha invites you to a public evening event.
Since Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed took office in 2018, Ethiopia has experienced a remarkable political transformation that has led to an opening of political space and the release of political prisoners. One of his most important initiatives was an attempt to end the decades-long conflict between the government and the Tigray region in the north of the country. However, in November 2020, a new conflict broke out. Since then the international community made efforts to resolve the conflict and provide humanitarian assistance. In this context, the public event will take place.
The evening begins with the presentation of the short film "Silence the Guns" by Michael Hailu, followed by a panel discussion with experts. Here Michael Riegner is one of the panellists of the panel discussion. The whole thing will be moderated by Wolbert Smidt and Iris Schröder. In addition, the association GothAdua e.V. will be presented.
Join us and let's discuss the peace process in Ethiopia together! More information here.
