Professor Myriam Wijlens appointed to Advisory Council on the Future of Priestly Formation

The German Bishops' Conference has appointed Prof. Dr Myriam Wijlens, holder of the Professorship of Canon Law at the University of Erfurt, to the newly established Advisory Council on the Future of Priestly Formation.

Wijlens was not appointed to the advisory council as a representative of the theology professors, but because of her international contacts and her expertise in canon law, including in the area of sexual abuse by clerics.

Furthermore, following a reorientation of the Johann Adam Möhler Institute for Ecumenics in Paderborn, the canon lawyer was again appointed as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the period until 2025 by the President of the Institute, Archbishop of Paderborn Hans-Josef Becker. She was also appointed to the Steering Committee for Orthodox Catholic Dialogue at the Pro Oriente Foundation in Vienna.
