Dr. Marcus Schlegel, head of the EU-Audit and Revision department at Thuringia’s development bank, joined Prof. Dr. Heike Grimm's leadership lecture to share his research and experience in organizational change management with the Brandt School’s second year students. In two sessions on January 12 and 19, Dr. Schlegel focused on the role of leadership in the transformation of organizations, in particular public ones. He explained and demonstrated which kind of skills leaders should have or acquire by drawing on current research and his rich own experience. To motivate employees and themselves, leaders should always think and talk about the purpose of their work, first and only then about methods and results or products. He furthermore explained different forms of organizational models, from classical ones to the newer concept of evolutionary organizations and what they mean for leadership.
We are grateful to Dr. Schlegel for his contribution to this Master’s class and hope to continue this cooperation in the future.
