# Researching, writing and publishing

Workshop content

This seminar provides a basic introduction to the principles of good research practice as proposed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). It focuses on the perspective of doctoral researchers and postdocs, and covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to and definitions of Good Research Practice
  • Potential areas of conflict in research
  • Dealing with scientific misconduct and possible consequences
  • Scientific data collection and documentation
  • Publishing and scientific collaborations
  • Supervision and organisational culture
  • Research with human beings
  • Strategies for preventing and dealing with problems and conflicts in everyday scientific work

About the coach

Radtke

Debbie Radtke studied biology at the Ruhr‐University Bochum and did her doctoral research in the area of cell‐/neurophysiology. Since 2012 she is working as program manager in the Interdisciplinary Graduate and Research Academy Düsseldorf (iGRAD), where ‐ amongst other things ‐ she coordinates and develops the workshop program for doctoral researchers of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. She has been giving workshops for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and teaching staff at national and international research institutions since 2012, especially in the areas of Good Research Practice, Presentation Trainings and Teaching in Lab courses.
