The Merian Tagore International Centre of Advance Studies (ICAS:MP) will continue its interdisciplinary research in Delhi on the topic of "Metamorphoses of the Political in the Long Twentieth Century". The ICAS:MP is a research cooperation between Indian and German consortium partners, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 2015, which is organised in several thematic groups. The Max-Weber- Kolleg at the University of Erfurt is responsible in particular for the thematic area "Normative conflicts and transformations", which deals with various normative-ethical fields of conflict and transformation processes. Projects deal with, among other things, experiences of inequality and humiliation, diversity, climate change and the urban future. The share of research funding in this third funding phase for the University of Erfurt amounts to approx. €380,500.
The core of the Merian Centre is a fellowship programme for international, renowned researchers and outstanding postdocs. With its intercultural approach, ICAS:MP makes an important contribution to the internationalisation of science and global scientific cooperation. The work of ICAS:MP is also supported by the Ma-Weber-Kolleg's follow-up fellowships for ICAS:MP Alumni Fellows, which make it possible to invite international researchers to Erfurt.
Professor Martin Fuchs, head of the ICAS sub-project at the Max-Weber-Kolleg: “We are pleased that the very fruitful cooperation with our Indian partner organisations can be continued in this way despite the not always easy framework conditions and look forward to further exchange, which also helps to overcome Eurocentric analytical perspectives."
