Funding for project on cultural techniques of collecting

As part of the "FTI Thüringen – Forschung" funding line, the Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society is supporting the project "Kulturtechniken des Sammelns" (Cultural Techniques of Collecting) with a total of 335,000 euros over the next three years. The research project is headed by Wolfgang Struck, Professor of Modern German Literary Studies at the University of Erfurt.

The project aims to establish a sustainable research infrastructure that will link scholars from the "Kulturtechniken des Sammelns" (Cultural Techniques of Collecting) research group at the University of Erfurt and researchers at the Universities of Weimar and Jena with the various collection facilities in Gotha. "The aim is to make Gotha's unique collection ensemble, which includes the Friedenstein Castle Foundation and the Gotha Research Library at the University of Erfurt, more accessible to early-stage researchers in particular," emphasizes Professor Wolfgang Struck. "They are offered very special qualification opportunities here with regard to the theory and practice of collecting and special collections."
