The Rising Star Award was established four years ago by SupChina's Women's Gala to honor and promote young women scholars who have established themselves with outstanding research. Dr Sung made a fundamental contribution with her critical study of women and gender equality in leadership positions in Chinese companies. Last year, she published her monograph, “The Economics of Gender in China: Women, Work and The Glass Ceiling”, based on her dissertation on the economics of gender and women in management positions in China. Her book has been recognized as an important reference work in the U.S., China and Europe.
Following the award ceremony, Sung was invited to lecture at two very prestigious institutions at Tsinghua University, her alma mater: the School of Economics and Management and Schwarzman College. "I am honored to have been given this precious opportunity to share my work with young, passionate students," Sung explains.
Professor Bettina Hollstein, Managing Director of the Max-Weber-Kolleg: "We are very pleased that the achievements of our graduate, Sisi Sung, have received such outstanding international recognition."
