Dr. Sisi Sung is an award-winning scholar with affiliations across the United States, China, and Europe. She specializes in gender and social economics, with a particular focus on the intersection of gender, inclusion, and sustainability in business practices.
Her research has been published in both English and Chinese. Her latest book, The Economics of Gender in China: Women, Work, and the Glass Ceiling (Routledge), explores the complex journey toward gender equality at the management level within China’s business sector. This interdisciplinary work—bridging economics, management science, sociology, anthropology, and cultural studies—has been widely adopted by universities globally and has inspired gender equality policy development across various organizations. Her contributions have also been featured in prominent media, including Nikkei Asia and The New Books Network.
Beyond academia, Sisi has served as an advisor and expert to organizations advancing gender equality, diversity, and sustainability. She contributed to the European Commission on topics of gender equality, research ethics, and integrity, sharing her expertise on fostering inclusive research and innovation environments.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in China, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Washington, Seattle in the United States, and graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor rerum politicarum (Dr. rer. pol., Doctor of Economics) degree from Max-Weber-Kolleg, University of Erfurt in Germany.
