"Democracy under pressure" – lecture with Justus von Daniels

The University of Erfurt, Thuringian State Parliament and "Thüringer Allgemeine" are continuing their joint lecture series in the 2024 summer semester. This time, the lectures will focus on the super election year 2024 with local elections, European elections and state elections. The next event is on Thursday, 16 May. Justus von Daniels, Editor-in-Chief of CORRECTIV, will speak about "Demokratie unter Druck" (Democracy Under Pressure).

At the beginning of this year, millions of people took a stand against right-wing radicalism and in favour of democracy. It was a self-understanding within society that had not existed for such a long time. Nevertheless, populism and the uproar on social networks have the effect of a creeping poison for democracy – something that can be observed locally and worldwide in the super election year of 2024. Justus von Daniels will talk about what it takes to counter this in his lecture.

The public event begins at 6.15 pm in lecture hall 2 of the Centre for Communication and Information (KIZ) on the University of Erfurt campus. Admission is from 6 pm. Admission is free. However, registration is required.
