Since 2019, researchers at the University of Erfurt, together with colleagues from Jena and Weimar, have been investigating the question of how experiences of the period of change and transition from 1989 onwards were processed and what role they play in personal and family memories today. After all, family memories, the teaching of science at school, challenging educational paths and everyday spaces between self-will and surveillance - the approaches to a history of experience of the GDR and the transformation period after 1990 are diverse.

Four research projects at the University of Erfurt examine this period from different perspectives. The questions asked of the citizens are: How did you experience the GDR and the transformation? What memories do you associate with your career and life in the GDR? What stories have remained in your memory? At the event in July, the researchers would like to talk about this with citizens. If you would like to take part, please register by e-mail at dut.info@uni-erfurt.de.
