CfP DVPW Section Conference 2025 "Political Public Spheres: Structures and Strategies" (19.03.-21.03.2025, Erfurt/30.09.-02.10.2025, Erlangen)

The basic political-theoretical concept of the public sphere is currently of particular relevance. To what extent are the much-vaunted threats to democracy due to the erosion of the democratic public sphere?

What part do structural factors - from transnationalisation to digitalisation - play in the development; and how do
individual actors drive the development with their strategies? Who can and who should intervene in the development and restructure, limit or curate the public sphere(s)?
The double conference of the DVPW Section for Political Theory and History of Ideas in Erfurt and Erlangen will take up and reflect on these debates on the political public sphere in spring and autumn 2025. Proposals for contributions (German or English, 300-500 words plus short biography) can be submitted to poloeff[at]proton.me by 31 July 2024 . When submitting your paper, please indicate which of the two conferences you would mainly focus on. There will probably be a later, supplementary call for papers for the autumn conference 2025 in Erlangen. Further information in the detailed call.
