The Brandt School welcomed the new student cohort with a week-long orientation program from October 4, 2022. During the Orientation Week the students had the chance to get to know their fellow classmates, gain a first impression of the campus and the city of Erfurt, and learn about the School’s offers. Events such as "Introduction to the MPP program" or "Setting up Uni accounts and email" made sure students were off to a smooth start into the academic year while the “Campus & City Tour” as well as briefings on “City Registration” or “Student Life at Brandt School” helped them feel at home in Erfurt and settle in within short period of time. A “Bonfire Night” organized by the Student Government welcomed the new fellow Brandtians.
A highlight of the Orientation-Week, the "Welcome Reception" was held on 13 October, 2022 in the Angermuseum. Director of Brandt School, Professor Andreas Goldthau warmly welcomed the class of 2022-24, followed by an introduction of Professor Till Talaulicar, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Erfurt. Distinguished Senior Brandt School Fellow Shakuntala Banerjee held the keynote speech. Her call on the new batch:
"Your job is no less than making the most of collaborative learning at the Brandt School and then go off and save the world."
Last but not least, president of the student government Inés Alberico welcomed the new fellow Brandtians, offered support and encouraged them to get involved and, importantly, advised to enjoy the time at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy.
