W2 professorship with career track to W3 in Modern German Literature (f/m/d)
The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Erfurt sees itself as an academic teaching and research institution that both takes on and further develops new approaches in the humanities and cultural studies within the framework of a research-oriented and inter-national university. The advertised professorship is part of the Seminar for Literary Studies at the University of Erfurt. This Seminar offers a transphilological structure that is unique in Thuringia while being open to the world, and in which the individual 'na-tional philologies' work closely together on a theory- and project-oriented basis.
The applicant will represent Modern German Literary Studies in research and teaching within the framework of transphilological literary studies. The applicant will contribute lectures and seminars to the following programmes: BA Literary Studies, MA Literary Studies, BA German Studies, the doctoral program “Texts. Signs. Media” and the MEd degree programmes in elementary and secondary school teaching.
excellent achievements in research and teaching in the field of Modern German Literature, proven, among other things, by a habilitation or other additional achievements in the field of Modern German Literature
a research focus on media-studies related perspectives on literature
the willingness to participate in interdisciplinary research areas
a high level of commitment to teaching, the willingness and ability to acquire third-party funding and to participate in academic self-administration
in teaching, the ability to represent the subject in all its breadth while also making reference to the contemporary world
The following are desirable
a research focus on transculturality, e.g. literature and culture of post-migrant society
international experience in research or teaching
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, proof must be provided of the hiring prerequisites in accordance with § 84 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (Thüringer Hochschulgesetz, ThürHG).

Career Track professors are appointed to a permanent W2 professorship from the outset. The career evaluation takes place between the third and fifth year of employment. If the career evaluation is positive, the appointment is made to a permanent W3 professorship.
