Guest lecture by Professor Anselm Schubert on the topic "From the 'Manliness of Christ' to the 'Queer Christ'. Gender identities of Christ in the theology of the 20th century." as part of the Monday Lectures in Religious, Social and Cultural Studies.

The gender debates have finally also reached Christology. The question of the gender identity of Christ in theology has a long history: in his lecture, Erlangen church historian Professor Dr Anselm Schubert describes the history of the discussion about the gender of Christ in the 20th century - from the idea of a natural (or even supernatural) masculinity of Christ in church debates to the theories of marriage and children of Christ in the 20th century. In his lecture, the Erlangen church historian Professor Anselm Schubert describes the history of the discussion about the gender of Christ in the 20th century - from the idea of a natural (or even supernatural) masculinity of Christ in church debates, the theories of a marriage and children of Christ in esoteric and political conspiracy narratives, the female incarnations of Christ in feminist theology to the invention of the queer Christ in postmodern theology and the gender debate of recent years. The current discussion thus becomes part of a history of gender orders in modernity.
