About
Translating research from the academic world to non-academic audiences or across different fields can be a challenge for highly specialized researchers. Luckily, social media platforms like LinkedIn, Mastodon and Bluesky provide a space where academics can reach broader audiences. These platforms can be powerful tools to engage the public, foster societal dialogue, and provide much-needed informal education.
This workshop is designed to help academics kickstart their journey into science communication by focusing on:
- Understanding how to connect with non-academic or cross-disciplinary audiences
- Getting familiar with the basics of LinkedIn, Mastodon and Bluesky
- Exploring the tools available on these platforms to enhance communication
- Networking with fellow academic communicators
- Developing content strategies to keep your audience engaged
