The workshop deals with the practical implementation of data management.

- Life cycle of research data
- Finding research data
- Data management plans
- Data protection/personal data
- Sustainable data organisation (formats, data documentation)
- Data publication and archiving (repositories, persistent identifiers such as ORCID-id, metadata, licences)
- The German FDM landscape - NFDI consortia and sections
After this workshop you will know
- the most important terms relating to research data management
- the policies currently relevant to you
- the role of research data in the research and publication process
- the most important options for researching research data
- the function of data management plans
- the basic rules for handling personal data
- the key aspects for the sensible handling of research data during the project duration or during your doctoral process
- the options for making research data accessible to third parties
- the ORCID-id
- the difference between documentation, publication and archiving
- the NFDI consortium responsible for you
After this workshop you will be able to
- assign terms from the field of RDM and clarify definitions using the relevant information websites
- assess your obligations within good scientific practice and the policies of the University of Erfurt as well as other policies relevant to you and align your handling of your own research data accordingly
- assess the potentially critical aspects of handling research data for your project before the start of the project and take appropriate solutions into account when planning the project or are able to recognise the need for advice and actively request advice
- identify existing data bases in your field of research and are able to plan your own data collection in such a way that the connectivity of your data is guaranteed
- read a DMP and utilise it for your own subsequent use of data and/or procedures
- assess whether an ethics vote is required for your research project and whether separate counselling on the handling of personal data is necessary
- create comprehensible folder structures and document your own naming conventions
- Select data for publication and archiving
- use the ORCID-id and thus a unique identifier to make your own scientific contributions visible in a consistent manner
