About
Starting with a brief reminder of how to find suitable job opportunities in the non-academic labour market, this workshop will provide you with strategies and methods for writing persuasive applications for the German non-academic market.
We will pay particular attention to the following points:
- Relevant differences between academic and non-academic applications
- How to read the job advertisement, and how to gather additional information
- How to tailor your application dossier
- How to write a concise and well-structured cover letter and CV
- How to think about language (English vs. German), register and style
- The next step: some brief points about job interviews
There will also be room for any other questions or concerns you may have.
If possible, please bring along a suitable job advertisement or job description (‘suitable’ meaning that you could see yourself applying for the position; it does not have to be your dream job).
Dr Matthias Zach counsels researchers and scientists on all relevant aspects of their careers.
