Course Details

In the major and minor in Economics, Law and Social Sciences - Law concentration you will learn to understand and apply German and European law with its international references. For this purpose, the necessary legal knowledge and the political, social and economic foundations of law as well as the ability to reflect on them theoretically will be taught.

After completing your studies, you will be able to assess facts from a legal perspective, shape future legal relationships and contribute to the further development of the law.

The training covers the following areas:

  • constitutional and administrative law
  • civil and commercial law
  • european law
  • basics of the law

The study cannot be completed with the state examination.

Structure of the study programme

The bachelor's degree course at the University of Erfurt comprises a major and a minor subject (two-subject bachelor's degree) as well as the fundamental course of study. It aims to impart specialist content and occupational field orientation as well as interdisciplinary skills. The standard period of study is six semesters.

Orientation Phase (First Year)

  • Introduction to political science studies
  • Foundations of law: Historical foundations of law, legal work
  • Constitutional law: right of state organization, basic rights
  • Civil law: contract law
  • Basic courses in Economics, Law and Social Sciences (in combination with economics or social sciences, international relations or management)

Qualification Phase (Second/Third Year)

  • Civil law: legal obligations, law of property and claims, antitrust law
  • Competition Law
  • Labour Law
  • European law
  • International Law
  • Public law
  • Company Law
  • Administrative Sciences
  • Basics of law: theory of law, history of law

Two-Subject-Bachelor

The major and minor subjects differ in terms of the content and scope of the course. In the major subject a Bachelor thesis is written.
